Garway is a local hill for local people. Looking at these photos again I don’t remember why we hadn’t gone out for the day. Possibly this was just an interlude between two spells of poor weather on the day – in true fickle style it was raining within an hour of us getting home after this walk. Maybe it was because TJS was feeling poorly.
Whatever the reason it was just me and TBF out on our own for a change for an hour.
A glorious afternoon, almost warm and springlike out of the wind.
Sometimes it is nice just to walk for the pleasure of it. No need to pack lunches and the like, no rucksack to carry, no kids to ask you if we are going back yet.
Today we just ambled and talked, admiring the views and enjoying the sunshine

More lovely photos and welcome relief from the dismal weather here today. Not that we’ve done badly this week. It’s a cracking walk is that. Nice to get out without the kids now and then (love ’em though we undoubtedly do!).
Love that tune. I thought it was called ‘Ratso’s Theme’, or something like that, and for me it is inextricably linked to the poignant ending of Midnight Cowboy and is therefore not at all appropriate to a romantic stroll. No explosions or car chases in Midnight Cowboy though so perhaps not your sort of film?

Pretty grim here today as well. Glad I got out yesterday in the surprising snow. Hope for more of the white stuff and some sun next weekend up north!
Thinking it about the movie it comes from is as far from romantic as its possible to get (I have seen it!). Still, it’s a nice tune and it was the right length for the slides

Blimey, we’re not Premier League. Lancaster and District Second Division in fact – mid-table, promoted from the Third last year. We were hoping that John West would sponsor us – brain food and all that, but nothing doing. Until then, you’re way out of our price range. (Which is a pint of Dizzy Blonde and a few corned beef sarnies)

What a beautiful day! That is something I love about winter walking – crisp air and blue skies, especially when you start to get that little hint of spring in the air. Something I’ve not done enough of this winter even though we’ve had good weather for it here in Cornwall too.

Like you I love the crisp cold air and deep blue skies – even better with the crunch of snow underfoot. Come the warm days of summer I more inspired to laze in the warm sunshine – when we actually get some.

Nice to have this on my doorstep. The horses are I believe semi-wild in that they are free to roam but they do have “owners” who are responsible for their welfare. In certain parts of the UK it’s a sad story as the owners can’t always afford to care for them properly and they are left to survive on their own which often leads to neglect. The one’s on my local hills always look in good condition though which is a relief
